Nadine Dorries, MP for Mid Bedfordshire visited us today. She was and always is sympathetic to our cause and issues. We spoke about the differences between the Local Authorities and how Bedford does not compare favourably with Milton Keynes.
Local MPs, such as Nadine, can:
- Raise the issue in Parliament about support for grandparents
- Issue a press release to show that she is supporting our campaign on behalf of kinship carers in her constituency
- Write to the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families
- Make a freedom of information request to your local authority asking them what support they provide to family and friends carers
- Ensure that her own party prioritises family and friends carers when it writes its manifesto for the next General Election
